NBS Judges Criteria 2014/2015

A1 List
For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CC's and have completed their first appointment and who have the support of the Northern Basenji Society. (KC Policy)

A2 List
For persons who would in principle be approved by the Kennel Club to award CC's, who fulfill all the requirements for the A3 specialist/non specialist list, who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 list and who have the support of the Northern Basenji Society. (KC Policy)

A3 List
For persons who, as yet, have not been approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 list and who have the support of the Northern Basenji Society.

 

Breed Specialists

1.To have a minimum of 10 years active involvement in the breed.
2.To have a minimum of 7 years Basenji judging experience. (KC Policy)
3.To have completed a minimum of 7 appointments in Basenjis, including at least 1 show with a minimum of 30 dogs present and judged.
4.To have judged a minimum of 75 Basenjis. (KC Policy)
5.To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
6.To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
7.To have attended a Conformation & Movement “Hands On” Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2005)
8.To have attended at least one Basenji Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and or assessment where applicable. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
9.To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 Basenjis when they obtained their 1st entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances). (KC Policy)
10.To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at Shows (KC policy)
11.To be prepared to write show critiques as customarily required by the Canine Press.
 

 

Non Breed Specialists

1.To have awarded CC's in at least one other breed. (KC Policy)
2.To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed, (to include 5 years judging Basenjis). (KC Policy)
3.As Breed Specialists Criteria No. 3
4.As Breed Specialists Criteria No. 4
5.To have attended at least one Basenji Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
6.To have bred and /or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they obtained their 1st entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

B List
For judges who judge at Open shows and who have the support of the Northern Basenji Society

Breed Specialists


1.To have a minimum of 3 years active involvement in Basenjis
2.To have judged a minimum of 20 Basenjis.
3.To have attended a seminar on the interpretation of the Breed Standard and to have passed an exam/assessment. To have attended seminars in Ring Procedure, Kennel Club Show Regulations, Conformation and Movement and Hands On assessment.
4.To be prepared to write show critiques as customarily required by the Canine Press.
Non Breed Specialists
1.To have a minimum of 5 years judging Basenjis.
2.To have judged a minimum of 30 Basenjis.
3.As Breed Specialists Criteria No. 3.
4.As Breed Specialists Criteria No. 4.
 

C List

Breed Specialists and Non Breed Specialists
For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and who have the support of the Northern Basenji Society. This list will include judges who have judged Basenjis at Limited and Open Shows but have not yet fulfilled all the criteria to qualify for inclusion on the B list.

N.B. In addition The Northern Basenji Society give full consideration to the inclusion of Group Judges, and JDP approved judges relevant to Basenjis, onto the A and B lists.
